You don't, it is always specified in the installation instructions that come with the gas appliance. Of more importance is the material(s) used in the piping, everything must be compatible with the type of gas and the local codes.

Toward the end of this article it mentions 1/4 psi (~7" water column) pressure; I've also seen 10" w.c., but local Codes might vary. Be sure to check those, because they will govern the allowable pressures in various types and locations of pipe/tube/hose.
