Needs to Find Ways to Reduce Running Costs

06/15/2011 3:29 AM

Can anyone guide me about new technologies with which we can reduce running costs, increase efficiencies in HVAC systems...

I know one like using EC Fans instead of standard belt driven fans...

Turning it off when it is not needed is a good one.

I don't know what an "EC" fan is vs. some other kind.

Turning up the thermostat a little can help.

Somewhat less practical would be to increase the surface area of the evaporator and/or condenser.

If this is a fairly large unit, there may be a way to change to an evaporative vs. air-cooled condenser.

Be sure that your existing evaporator and condenser are clean, and any bent fins "combed" out.

Needs to find ways to reduce running costs

The obvious answer(s) is to either stop running.....or buy less expensive running shoes.

You need to define your situation quite a bit better if you want some quality ideas.

Insulate, seal off all drafts, only heat/cool where you need to, alter the thermostat settings, reuse waste heat from other areas.

Use latest control system like BMS and set the optimum parameters. Carry out routine maintenance regularly as per the schedule.
