If anyone would know, it's the admissions offices at the Universities in question. Please contact them directly.

The MAIN requirement is LOTS of Moolah, aka MONEY. Everyone of those schools has a website with the information you want.

As a graduate of the Doctorate program at CMU, all I can say to you is that your grades must be very high and be prepared to spend lots and lots of money, or apply for trying to secure a portion of the limited grant funds available. Living & breathing in Pittsburgh is no where cheap either! That means bringing lots more $$$$$ with you!!!!! Do you own several large suitcases to stuff the $$$ into??? LOL

I taught several undergrad engineering courses as well as several MSE courses while there.....most important are having completed the prerequisite Bachelor of Science (in engineering) and earning high grades, usually over 3.0/4.0 GPA. You must also take and pass an assessment examine. Work experience usually counts for very little in regard to acceptance into the Master of Science - Engineering program.

All of the universities that you listed have online sites....visit their Admissions Office portals for further information and acceptance criteria.

Good luck in your future endeavors!

My daughter, applied for , and was accepted to many schools, but chose to go to UC Berkeley--She carried a 4.4 in High School, was the President of the Marching Band, and was the Co-Captain of the Varsity Volleyball team, with honors in Leadership programs--Once at Berkeley, she found a majority of the people in her program (MCB--Molecular Chemistry, and Biology, in which she graduated with Honors), to be from many other countries--Now, the majority of students in this program were NOT American nationals--The influx of the many indian, Pakistani, and Chinese engineers, in the late 1990's and early 2000's , during the Tech Boom, resulted in a sub-culture in the San Jose, San Francisco, Silicon Valley areas, and all through the other tech rich areas of the United States. The cultural study Ethic, and Succeed ethic resulted in many of these kids getting into very good schools--NOW--Do you have have any of these advanced skills, placement wise? Test scores, other interests, other than Academics? Money is not the panacea--Work ethic, and other interests led many of my Daughter's friends into Berkeley with full Scholarships--- Maybe look "out of the box", consult with others of your culture, or nationality, and see what has worked for them. I do know that Cal Tech is bitch to get into, yet I have known a sailor, that was accepted into the Electrical Engineering program, after blowing them off 7 years earlier, sailing around the world , and re-applying--He is now a Professor--Nothing is sure, nothing is impossible--Persistence , I think, is the answer--In regards to the earlier posts, if persistence fails, then bring a bag of a lot of cash-You will get into USC, with no problem--Mac

I liked your answer. When I first saw this thread I began a similar response, only to erase it. The points you made about foreign students is quite valid. I doubt any of them went to a forum or some other back door approach to gain entry into Cal Tech or MIT. The people that made it earned their way in. The person who posted the question should have ALREADY gone to all of the sites of the schools they're interested in as well as dozens of other schools. He/she should have ALREADY done their due diligence and whittled their choices down to the top 2 or 3 that best reflected the exact field they wish to enter. He/she should ALREADY be subscribed to any and all blogs of the professors and undergrads that are working on the type of projects they also want to be involved in. He/she should ALREADY be networking through Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. to people at the schools and workplaces of the field they hope to enter. Cover all the bases or go the old fashioned way...bring a big bag of cash.

Everyone wants the big time, not everyone is willing to earn it.
