What reasons are behind the rejection of the Course Tutor's suggestions?

A popular one last year was generation of electricity with speed breakers.

Though we had not taken it kindly but let that not dissuade

How about the mechanical properties and construction costs of an oak branch versus an aluminum branch.

Thinking of project yourself is the first qualification of being in final semester.

I agree. A project on independent thought might be a good one.

Yes, it is all about applying things, Others can only guide little bit.But this is typical problem with current education system, specially in my country. All equipments and machineries of engineering colleges are sold after 10 years in junk with little or no use.
(there may be few exceptions)

Yes , i agree the current education system in india is like Automatic engineers production plant/machines. You just feed student without any vision and money you will get the product in 4 to 5 years. Also, to smooth[enhance] this process coaching classes, tutorials, ready made seminar, projects are available in market. You just need money and some tricks [fair and unfair ]to pass the exam.

I will give you one recent example. A group of final year student approached me to discuss project related work. I have given five to six project ideas.

After a long time they told me that they have selected " solar charger / inverter" as their project. I sujjested him that , these chargers are available in market for @rs. 600/-. and there is nothing new to do or no innovative work. Its not a BE level project.

Again , 2-3 days before their final project exam they approached me to show the project work with @200 pages project report. I was in solar field some years ago.

So, i guided what the checkpoints, questions to be asked by examiner etc.

They confidently faced the exam with satisfaction on their face.

After some days i have come to know that they have bought this project from market.

Also, they don`t have any soldering gun, multimeter etc. [ barber without instruments] .They all passed with good marks. Some of them got job in MNC also

Here are a few suggestions;

.

1. Overcoming difficulties in manually transporting a bucket of steam (for steam plant analysis).

.

2. Advantages of relative bearing grease over various nondirectional lubricants.

.

3. Attention budgeting; the role of attention inflation and additional attention demands on widening my attention deficit..

.

4. The role of the Geriatric-jump-up in keeping the largest growing age demographic mobile and happy.

.

5. Dynamics and dangers of sloughing off your opportunity of self determination by allowing allowing an unknown person to select important projects for you.

While you're at that could you check the muffler bearings? They seem noisy.

Here are some pictures of my junior citizen project. A CNC route system I'm working on at home in spare time. Close to powering it up. More details to come in different thread.

Thanks for asking. A little over a year. Mostly research and development and now the fun part. Programming and debugging after tooling the router head. I'm also, working on a plasma cutter system for a friend of mine.

You need to first learn how to politely ask for help, if worded properly you may get lucky and spark the interest of some folks here.

Until then its just muffler bearings and kinipilin pins

Did someone else chose your field of study for you as well?

Tim

What are other people on your course doing, and what would you like to do?

You need to give us something to work with (perhaps the level of qualification would be a good start too).

Become a member of this team. Then, when and if you find something to improve don't tell the skipper, because he knows already. Then when you tell him that you want this thing to take off and fly, you will be the first to become airborne. What a project.

On a scale from 1-10, how bored are you? I thought so, Ky.

Keep in mind following -

  • Project should be innovative.
  • Any improvement to present system / equipment
  • Reflect Use of knowledge you gained.
  • No thesis , report , survey work.working model reqd.
  • Budget within your limits.
  • useful for mankind, industry etc.

My neighbour has a pump attached to his rainwater tank. It is mounted on concrete. It is noisy when working.

How about a thesis on how to mount, connect, and insulate the motor, so noise is at a minimum (zero if possible?).

There is one problem - the ear is logarithmic in response. Can you realistically effectively silence the damn thing? How silent does it have to be so the most irritable of human beings will put up with it?

Home cloning device. Or a teleporter, or a gravity gun.
