Powerless Canon Carrier

07/05/2011 1:11 AM

Some years ago, on discovery channel , i saw one animation of powerless canon.

Concept behind it - using earth`s magnetic pole to deflect permenant Magnet. The motion [power] gained by this is used to move the canon wheels and steering it in free space. Sametime the magnet is deflected at some angel to get the next motion cycle.

Is it possible ? Anyone has info. regarding this?

Canon ≠ cannon. ` ≠ '. Permenant ≠ permanent. Angel ≠ angle. Motion ≠ power (but there can be a relationship.)

Sorry.

You have taken this well. (I voted you a good answer on another post, but I can sometimes be a real demon about editing.) Welcome aboard; I think you will do well and enjoy yourself here.

Do you, by any chance mean the "Space carom shot" where gravity of a planet is used to accelerate a spacecraft ? Here is some stuff : space+carom+shot

In English Billiards, there is a shot called the Cannon. Which is called a Carom shot in American pool. This is what triggered my thinking...if this is not what you meant, sorry for wasting your time

Whatever else is interesting, Are you really sure, you are not talking about a 'perpetuum mobile' concept here?!? Generating something from nothing is a great fun, but not much else.

If you are talking about using the Earth's magnetic field as a power source then the problem is that it is too weak to be of any significant help. If you had a very large canon that weighed only a few pounds then maybe, but if you can do that then I need your help with a lot of other things like anti-gravity. ;)

Sanjay, I don't believe anyone knows what you're referring to. Could you elaborate, to make it clearer?

I heard once that Superman used the earths magnetic fields to fly. Of course i was at Texas A&M at the time and spent a LOT of time in another state of mind.

With all due respect, I think we should give sanjaykangralkar a break...

Bcoz He comes from a place where English is the second or the third language...

Having said that I dont have a clue what He is referring to....

Oh well, My Best guess is that He is probably referring to the Gravity assist maneuver

Ulp... No Cannons here...
