If you are sure it's .ifv and not .ivf play it with the program that created it. If it can't be done, at least you will have an added usefull criterion when you 'll buy hardware with bundled software next time. I know I have. S.M.

Streamclip will play just about anything, and it's free.

Can't really find anything on a .ifv file, but Media Player Classic (MPC) WILL play .ivf's (and it's free) if that is what you meant to type.

IFV file format is a special video codec used for Indeo Video Format. IFV is associated with the proprietary video format developed by Fuho Technology for its 16CH Standalone DVR used to manage and capture security cameras.
To play IFV files, try this:

What Is IFV Format?

IFV is a proprietary video format output by some DVR or security cameras monitoring system. It has no relationship with IVF(Indeo Video Format). Don't be confused. IFV uses H.264 to store video with or without PCM audio. IFV format looks a little like ASF format and uses some reserved ASF GUID as block tags.

IFV is not a general purpose video format for distribution. Nearly all popular players and editors don't support it. Only those software that produce it can play it, and all of them only work on Windows system. How to convert IFV to popular video format to play or edit it in popular players and editors? How to play IFV file on Windows and Mac without conversion?

Here is the answer: http://www.faasoft.com/articles/ifv-converter-and-ifv-player.html

Hope it can help you more or less.
