How Much Electricity We Can Generate (Approx.)

We have the following capacity for Steam.

How much Electricity We can generate (Approximate) , based on steam turbines available in India.

Steam Capacity 20 Ton / Hr. 12,000,000 Kcal/Hr. Pressure up to 10Kg.

also please suggest the Turbine Mfr in India.

On a 20 Tph you can generate electricity estimated 3.0 MW +/- but not at 10 kg/cm2 pressure. This is saturated steam temperature. You need a higher pressure > 20 +/- bar and super heated steam temperature.

However, today there are Turbines (blade-less) around known as " Helical Screw Expanding power generators" that take in hot water/steam saturated and generate electricity.These can generate around 1.0 to 1.5 Mw with 20 Tph steam at 10 bar saturated steam temperature under certain conditions.

Your given parameters are not sufficient. What is steam temperature at 10 kg pressure is also important.

In India you can get turbines from BHEL, TRIVENI Engg., Dresser Rand etc.

Yes you are right and I correct myself . He can get a minimum at 9.8 bar/ 270C temperature but it will give 2.2 Mw with 20 Tph steam.

Dear Adarash,

Your data is not sufficient and pl. provide the following details.

1. What is the exhaust steam pressure and temperature at the Turbine.? 2. What does 12,000,000 KCal/Hr. Mean? Does this Quantity of Heat is liberated in the Furnace or this is the heat added to steam.? 3. If so what is the Furnace Temp.? This will elp to decide the Temp. for Super heated steam. 4. What is the Steam Temp. at the inlet of the Turbine.?

Your data conveys a meaning to me that the steam is SATURATED. Pl.confirm. The power generated depends upon the HEAT DROP in the STEAM.

20 TPH steam at 10 Bar saturated steam will generate 800KWH of power. if you increase the pressure, more power can be generated.
