Please provide a more specific question.

What is "Main Engine"?

What is Bolwing?

When you say "we should bolwing ME by compressed air" are you blowing yourself off with compressed air? OSHA does not support this.

The quality of your question has a direct correlation to the quality of your answers.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but for marine engines, compressed air is often used to operate an air motor that cranks the main engine for starting. (The engine itself might serve this purpose by injecting the compressed air into the engine's cylinders.)

Used for starting as the man said and also to insure that the engine rotates freely before putting fuel into it, clear the cylinders of any fuel remaining from before or that may have leaked into the cylinders. Sort of like opening and blowing down the drains on a steam turbine to remove any condensate prior to starting.

Put air in to turn over and if all's well you can open fuel valves to start, assuming we're talking diesel.

Not until the <...we...> stated it, <...we...> didn't.

Good question! Why is everyone blowing you? Do you lean both ways or do only members of the opposite sex do it? And with compressed air? Do you inflate like a balloon when that happens?

By the way, what does your company safety officer say about this?

  • Perhaps it is a method of starting it?
  • Does the <...we...> have an instruction manual about it, and a training programme?
  • What does the original equipment manufacturer's operation and maintenance manual say about it?
  • Is there a prize for the correct answer?
