It will set you free.

I did not expect a S.A. answer -- thought that constant motion has been and is used. With a little thought a little imagination i could get some inteligent comments but this is all i get! -- I will have to ask how to put a bearing in my wash machine?

Sorry. Still seems a proper response to me.

Some of your posts are rather bizarre. Like the one about drinking hydrogen peroxide. A little search time on the ole internet might have kept you from looking like a total dweeb on that one.

Cheers

These questions are too vague to admit brief and sensible answers.

Couldn't we use barges for that?

The term "flow generator" loosely refers to high flow, low head. If the flow is also low, the power output will be really low, maybe suitable for a "village" of one or two people.

That is a good thought - what if we would put 10 or 50 or 100 or more we could not have to build as many Dams that disturb the eco system> and all rivers never stop tell they get to the Sea>i think it would have to be a turbine shape to get as much out as possible --

Because of the low head, "flow generators" are relatively large. What would keep a substantial number of them from disturbing the ecosystem?

here, along the allegheny river in pennsylvania, usa, the corp of engineers has allowed low head generators to be installed in a few dams.they use some of the excess water that would usually flow over the top of the dams to run their turbines. they're used during peak power usage.

i should mention that these dams are only used for navigation. they allow the water depth to be deep enough to enable barge traffic and are only 20' or so high.

a large percentage of the available water does flow through the turbines, but not enough to prevent water from flowing over the dam also.

there are endangered species that have not been affected from the turbine discharge. i believe that the turbines enhance the water quality.
