Can Compressed Air Convert in to Rotational Motion?

07/29/2011 1:41 AM

Hi every body

If we compress the air in tank by air compressor. Can it possible to convert the energy stored in compressed air in to rotational motion having good torque.plz. explain me how can we do?

Thanking you.

Of course, use an air motor.

Many sorts of common shop tools, such as drills, grinders, sanders, impact wrenches, and the like are based on converting air pressure into rotary motion. Simple vane motors are one method.

The engine you are looking for is an air turbine: on the internet you can find whatever you need ranging from like extremely high RPM (dentist´s drill) or low RPM´s like in most of the air driven tools.

lyn, Love this prop. I think my drive would shear off the webs in 1 throttle throw down forward though. Pitch angle would cut fast.

For better torque at low speed than you can get with a vane-type airmotor, there are a number of radial-piston designs as well as gerotor designs available. I was looking at a Swiss piston-type airmotor for driving a low-speed pump many years ago, but I can't find it now.

Hi,

You can convert compressed air into rotational motion by using air motors of varoius sizes. They are being used as a starter motors in harzadous areas where sparks are not wanted durring starting of an engine. You can choose one from CW or CCW.

Check companies like:

1. PSI Automation

2. Pro-Dex Air Motors

3. Future Pundit: Cars powered by air motors

There are a lot with diverse uses depending on your need.

Vanata

You mention 'good' torque. What do you mean by this? This is the one I had in mind. Quite powerful for the size, and does away with the need for a gearbox for low-speed operation. Vane type airmotors are great for high speed applications, but useless for low-speed torque.

What - like a windmill?

A Savonius rotor?

Pneumatic motor - Wikipedia?

How about running the <...air compressor...> in question sdrawkcab?

Anything is <...possible...>.
