There should be a procedure in the instruction manual that came with the equipment.

On some devices, the channel shift buttons give a position-in-the-display tab point and the number of times one of the buttons is pressed accumulates in the display position. So to enter 1734 for example:

  • Tab to the first digit position
  • Press the accumulator button once
  • Tab to the second digit position
  • Press the accumulator button seven times
  • Tab to the third digit position
  • Press the accumulator button three times
  • Tab to the fourth position
  • Press the accumulator button four times.

Then there will be an enter button which, when pressed, ought to bring the unit into life.

It is not possible to see from here which button does what task, and this will be in the equipment manual if the above protocol is correct. However, do note that many manufacturers put increasing levels of time-out on incorrectly-entered codes resulting, in the limit, in the unit blowing an electronic raspberry and requiring the attentions of a service technician; experience here suggests that the value of the work is never less than £25GBP, so get the manual out first. OK?

Either use the channel up and down buttons or use the tuner dial after you press 1-5.
