08/26/2011 1:37 AM

i have current capacity of 160 amps in a forklift robot running by a battery voltage of 48 volts. Which type of fuse can i use?

Use the one described in the original equipment manufacturer's operation and maintenance manual.

if my load takes 145A of current then what should be my fuse rating?

It depends on the wiring. RTFM and use the one that is given in the manual!

Why do we use a current and voltage rating in fuses greater than their nominal ratings?

So that the fuse blows, rather than arcs across.

If i there is a current of 105A drawn by the motor then what should be the fuse rating be?

I have came to know that fuse rating = 135% of Full load current rating

or full load current/0.75.

Is this applicable practically or not? because if 105 is the current then fuse rating according to the above condition will be 105*1.35 that is 140A.

What does this mean?

please give a reasonable reply

Whle starting, and for brief times while running, motor current may be somewhat higher than the continuous FLC rating. According to the type of motor and circuit protection device, the device rating is allowed to be some multiple higher than the motor FLC. This multiple varies with motor and device types, and local Codes; 135% seems reasonable for DC motors.

It still depends on the wiring. Reasonable enough?

FOR electronic circuits is it necessary to take 135% of fuse rating or can we take the rated value of current as fuse value?

eg : if my dc dc converter draws 7A can we take its fuse rating as 7A ?

It still depends on the wiring <sigh>.

Actually on what basis is the fuse rating depending, to be rated? Is it the shortcircuit current , overload current or interrupting current?

Can anyone please clear my confusion?
