Dear All,

What is the difference between a gate valve and globe valve? Which on is rising and non-rising?

Thank you.

A gate valve has a moving gate in it whereas a globe valve has a moving plug; it is called a globe valve largely because its body shape tends towards the spherical.

Both types are made with rising and non-rising stems, depending largely on line size. It is more common for 1/2" valves to have a non-rising stem.
