Batch Number Reader (Sensor/Camera)

10/09/2011 10:49 PM

i have 2 questions:

  1. for reading batch no/codes printed on carton/aluminum foil/packaging material, in addition to using an suitable keyence camera/sensor, the other not less important thing is, how to ensure a camera/sensor works as expected (valid) at anytime of use?
  2. when using camera is visual inspection no longer needed?

thank you.

There is always a need for checking that any sensor is working correctly, vision system or not.

Generally however, barcode reading is pretty routine nowadays.

Why are you concerned about this?

Thank you for the comment.

Simply because of zero defects "Quality Assurance"

Not any of what should be "batch no/code" printed is distributed to the customer without.

You simply need to require a good reading of the bar-code before your operation continues. Good reading equals continue, no or bad reading sorts the item or stops the line.
