Aside from being familiar with that specific operation, without knowing the properties of the Sodium Petroleum Sulfonate (SPS), it's impossible to say.

What is needed is solubility (or insolubility) in various solvents, including water.

What is the chemical formula?

Is the SPS a liquid or a solid?

SPS density?

... and any other information you can get your hands on.
