Pumping from ground level to Over head Tank = Transfer Pump.

No Over head Tank - Distribution System pressurized via Booster Vessels = Booster pumps

I think Booster pump consistes of three parts & give you variable flow rate according to the demand

For example : Say Booster Pump Parts are (A+B+C)

A give 55% flow rate -B give 55% flow rate -C give 25% flow rate

If your demand is 55% or less then pump A working in service

If your demand is 80% or less then pump A&C working in service

If your demand is 100% then pump A&B working in service

So you don't need a gravity tank

dear VANI,

Booster Pump is working on-line and it will deliver to the other Pump Suction, No throttling, etc.

Transfer Pump is just to transfer the liquid to another vessel/tank. Here throttling/regulating the flow is acceptable.
