Adhesive for Bonding a Peltier to a Water Cooler

11/29/2011 4:17 PM

Ok I have to reflect a TOF laser off a front surface mirror to the bottom and top of a 1600 degree F. HSLA plate. The only way I can see the action is to bond the mirror to a peltier junction and water cool the cooler. The laser will be shot down a water cooled tube to prevent distortion in the fixture.

The plate will be about 30" from the upper/lower mirrors and it will be a short term exposure, but around 5 seconds every 3 minuets. I took an IR temp around the purposed fixture and recorded a stable temperature of around 260 degrees F.

Any body know of a good high temperature adhesive that will last?

Thanks

Ron

"TOF"?
"HSLA"?

"The laser will be shot down a water cooled tube to prevent distortion in the fixture."
Is the laser beam wandering around so that it would impinge on the tube?

The description is remarkably unclear.

OP lost me too. I can't picture what he is trying to implement.

He wants a glue right? Is the rest relevant? Sorry OP, can you describe again slowly?

TOF= Time Of Flight

HSLA=High Strength Low Alloy (Carbon Steel)

Most Peltier (TE) coolers are assembled with low temperature bismuth solders that limit their operating temperature to about 100 deg. C. As far as adhesives are concerned, you probably won't do much better than a high temperature conductive epoxy. The better ones are filled with silver flakes, or BeO powder.
