The motor nameplate may have a code letter that tells how many times the LRA (locked rotor amps) is compared to the FLA (full load amps); tables are given in the NEC (U.S. National Electrical Code) and motor mfr literature.

In American made motor's name plate do they print code letter(LRA/FLA)as well as design code(A,B,C,D etc) to check whether a motor is suitable for the required duty?.

It is a separate letter from the design code of A/B/C/D (which pertains to torque characteristics). I'm not if sure all motors have it. Here is a reference:

It's the supply voltage divided by the winding resistance.
