Latest Version of Firefox?

01/06/2012 10:11 AM

I'm still running Firefox version 3.6.25, but I'm finding a lot of websites that show up as gibberish text. These same sites look okay if I use IE, but I don't particularly like IE.

I know some people like Chrome, but I'm not a big fan of Google, either.

Does the latest version of Firefox work OK here at CR4? Do the message box editing tools all work properly? I remember a discussion about this a few months ago and some folks were still having problems when using the latest version of Firefox.

Thanks.

Usbport have been running Firefox beta which is up to 10.0. Have not had any problems with it here on CR4.

Usb,

I am running FF 9.0.1 as of Monday 1/2/12 and CR4 looks fine BUT..............

I have found with this latest update that I can no longer Copy, Paste, apply Bold, Italic, Underline, Strike Through, Insert/Edit Hyperlink, and Remove Hyperlink.

Functions that work are Insert Image, Insert Special Character, Emoticons, Spell Check, and Clean up Formatting.

I'm going back to V3.0.1. which worked very well on CR4.

I only use FF here at work for CR4 so I don't mind reverting back.

At home I use the most recent IE with no problems.

Regards KJK

Foistware created by New.net has been the leading cause of the cut and paste problem.

It has been bundled with a lot of software. Realplayer is one

My understanding is that they paid to have it bundled with a lot of software.

Everything else works.

It's worth a mention, that whenever downloading any software, always do the custom install..............................you know..........recommended only for advanced users. That is the place to get rid of all the extra crap before it ever hits your hard drive.

These guys really should try out slimbrowser................even if only for CR4. If they don't like it, they can delete it. This is an unpaid endorsement.

I've been using this for a couple of years. It's tiny, fast, and it works great. I'd suggest it to anyone.

I downloaded it, and am using it now.

I see all of the editing buttons work in the message box. So that's good.

I'll poke elsewhere around the internet and see how it works, but at least this part works fine.

Thanks for the tip. GA.

It took me a little while to get used to it because I was used to IE, and I don't like change. Chrome didn't work well here. Now I can't remember what either of them look like.

Any sites that look fine with IE must be gibberish...that's why IE can read them...case in point, CR4

not really...I use IE

Hi

i am using Firefox 3-6-25 in an Apple G4 with operating system 10-5-8 and am having trouble trying to read a .pdf which my friend displays on his .com site

I have adobe reader but it will not open the file and i have had to read it in safari which is not my preferred web host

I do not seem to be able to update firefox or adobe so i must have the latest versions of both for my system

Cheers

You need to go to mozilla and get the firefox reader add-on.

It has nothing to do with adobe unless the page is downloaded

Re: Latest Version of Firefox?

I use Opera. It doesn't open up all the facebook games but big whoopti doo. I've never encountered any trouble opening up any web page and it's the fastest loading browser.

I used firefox as my browser for a long while but for some reason the last few months it keeps freezing up and has slowed down a little but I use it as a secondary browser for things that Opera can't handle.

IE. SUCKS. Need I say more. The majority of your scumbags that like to sneak in trojans and such use the Windows Internet Explorer as their primary vehicle for sneaking them in. IE is also extremely slow loading up, it's the slowest in my opinion and takes up the most, as far as browsers are concerned, in taking up computer resources.

If it wasn't for the fact that the majority of programs run off the Windows operating systems, I'd switch to a Linux operating system in a heartbeat.

I had a lot of problems with FF 9 on my home computer locking up. It didn't seem to get along with my AVG antivirus software. I had to completely uninstall FF and reinstall it. Haven't had a problem since.

Never had any problems with my work computer using FF and Symantec protection.
