Excel - Text to Columns Issue

01/11/2012 11:30 AM

Hello everyone.

I am using the text to columns function in excel, and for some reason it will not separate everything in the cell. For example the cell has "5555 Westmore St. South Bend, IN" Using text to Columns -> Deliminated -> I choose Comma -> then the destination and what I come up with is "5555 Westmore St". As you can see the state "IN" is not in a separate column.

Your help is appreciated.

You might try using the text to columns feature in MS Word first, and if that works, then copy and past the columns into Excel.

I noticed that when I copy and pasted the the cells into word all the address information was on separate lines as opposed to one line as shown in the original excel file. I did a search for "^l" and replaced it with nothing and it made everything one line. I copied it back into the excel file and then i was able to separate the address into columns.

Thanks for the help.
