You seem to be wavering between anodic and cathodic corrosion protection.

Boat places may be a good source of sacrificial anodes, such as those made as pipe plugs with inward projecting anodes. The anodes may be of zinc, magnesium, or other materials; the pipe plug portion can be carbon steel, stainless steel, brass, or other material that matches the pipe or vessel fitting where it will be installed.
