Transformer Oil BDV

What will happen if Transformer oil BDV is low?

Please suggest me all cosequences.

Means insulation is less. It will lead to breakdown and dcomplete failure of equipment.

The transformer oil is used in the transformer for insulation as well as for cooling purpose. The low value BDV of oil means the transformer oil has moisture in it.The Transformer oil is hygroscopic in nature and it absorbs moisture quickly.The silica gel is filled in the breather to absorb moisture and moisture free air can only enter in the transformer conservator tank.

The minimum BDV value of transformer oil must be 30KV/ mm.

If transformer is operated with oil of less BDV, it is apt to fail. The breakdown of the transformer oil cause permanent damage to transformer. Therefore, the BDV value must be checked to ensure trouble free operation of the transformer.
