Pectin Extraction

04/02/2012 2:13 PM

How do you extract pectin form orange white part that has been pressed (after Oil extraction, cold pressed). Our company extract and packs Orange Juice and dumps a lot of waste. Interested in producing an edible gelling agent.

I'd hire an engineer. Or maybe do a search of Search GlobalSpec for pectin extraction.

This seems to be a "for profit" company you are working for, so why would you expect us to do it for free??? Besides, your company will then own any trade secrets/patents developed while you are paying for this research.

I can be retained for $200.00USD/hour, plus expenses for such work.

Thank you for your assertive response. I will go ahead and hire a pro. I just did not know where to start. What can you expect form an economist. Best regards.

If you want to get better results, Do some research on your own First.

You would be surprised the wealth of info if you try googling first. Its not that hard.

That way, you'll bring yourself up to speed to discuss this, plus you'll get some positive feedback. (other than lyns feedback which was still positive, as long as he has a certificate of insurance )

And its still good information for you to be aware when talking to a professional. atleast for evaluation purposes

Here a push for you to get started.

Very interesting. I wonder how the costs compare, for setting up UHP extraction.

Here at home of course, I like to throw the orange pulp in with my dogberries during the boil extraction, for the extra pectin to make a great jelly. I guess it would take a lot of energy to extract by boiling, and then dry it down to a powder.
