Mutations are what drive evolution. They operate by chance. That means that a mutation can either improve survivability, have no significant impact, or impair it.

Most mutations impair survivability, buy an occasional mutation will prove to be beneficial and be passed on to subsequent generations.

I am not sure why you are stuck on "information". The genetic code in a gene is still information, regardless of whether that sequence is logical or not.

Things evolved from lessor organisms to more complex organisms over time. While the subject of biology and its genealogy is pretty involved, it is also pretty well understood. There are literally mountains of data written on the subject. My major was biology, so I speak from a fairly informed opinion on the subject.

The genetic information is already there. There have been several studies that show that we have up to 12 times the "junk DNA" floating around in our cells that the DNA molecule uses to replicate.

It sometimes sneaks into the bonded molecule that forms the Double Helix, replacing the "normal" DNA that would have been there.

Most mutations go unnoticed, they are so minor. Some are deadly to the unaided organism, (unaided as in left to their own devices, without medical attention.) A small percentage are actually beneficial. I am not certain of the credentials of the researchers in these studies, but I read about most in scientific journals, so one would assume they have passed peer review.

Evolution should be natural(man-made) not politicians-made.

There still aren't any observed beneficial mutations. The only one people bring up is sickle cell anemia. That by the way is not a beneficial mutation. My foot hurts so I cut off my leg. duh. Mutations only work off of what's already there. You guys still can't get anything new, like a lizard turning into a bird. Evolutuion has fatal problems.

Apparently Amosman had spent too much time with his head in the sand. Genetic therapy is a branch of medicine devoted to mutating your set of genes. Amazing cures have been found, and this branch of medicine is just getting started.

A cure for AIDS has been linked to a genetic structure that goes back nearly 300 years. People who survived the Black Plague are immune to AIDS. Now, I'm not sure which ones are the mutants, but if I were to contract AIDS through a blood transfusion, I think I would be all over that gene therapy. Just because bad things happen doesn't mean we have to blame it on a higher power, etc.

It was recently discovered that a bone marrow transplant in mice cures autism. Again, this is a form of gene therapy that provides a wonderful end to suffering.

If interesting insight to the kind of response that Amosman is making is actually part of my original concern. Is there a branch of humans that resist knowledge and advancement due to their genetic makeup? Or they just stuborn and provoked when someone suggests that the earth is not flat? Makes one wonder!

"Direct Descendants of those who survived the black plague" might better communicate your point. They have a gene- delta 32 which prevents the aids virus from entering human.

As we pointed out earlier, it is the increase of a gene in a population which is "evolution."

There is a branch of humans that resist knowledge and its application and advancement. They are called Luddites.The new batch is called Neo-luddites. They seem to be unable to distinguish between wishful thinking, magic, and cause and effect processes.
