Changing Old Cars to EV Cars

04/04/2012 10:43 PM

The more cars we change over the less pollution in the air, the less gas we use and as a result we close the ozone layer. And gasoline prices go down.

And where does the energy to charge all of those vehicles come from?

The Ozone layer? My I haven't heard that enviro nutter battle cry in a while.

Is the AGW battle cry not working any more?

Re: CHANGING OLD CARS TO EV CARS

So how will they charge themselves, care to elaborate and give creditable reference material? Electric motor runs the generator that charges the batteries the run the motor? HHO? Luke warm fusion?

Personally where I live the weather was much worse in 1979 than it is now so quit trying to change things where I live because you don't like how things are where you live!

BTW I and my family own oil stocks and mineral rights so we rather like where the prices of oil are going!

In addendum the hole in the Ozone layer is cyclic. As in it comes and goes over the seasons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone_depletion

there seems to be a genetic switch in Human DNA that selects exclusively between "i have a grasp on the reality of physics" and "Im a raving crackpot"

Last I checked the combustion products of gasoline and diesel were not CFCs?

Did I miss something?

The Electric car will only save lives, but who cares about that, it's not our generation.

Due to price/demand elasticity, wouldn't the lowering of the price increase the demand?

Please stop SHOUTING.

No, the price is according to the demand. We brought this on ourselves by racing and not driving the speed limits. I see it in my own community . The speed limit is 45 and people who don't care go 60,because they don't realize the money they are waiting. I believe once you go over a certain speed the computer on the car has a type of overdrive and lets you use a lot more gas. The gas price is so high because they realize that they are on their way out . ( because of new scientists.) In 10 years or less the only vehicles on the road will be Magnetic and Electric. The other day a Electric beat a Corvette because of it's ability to gain 700 lbs torque of torque off the line.

Re: CHANGING OLD CARS TO EV CARS

So how come our highway speed limits here are 55 MPH on gravel 65 MPH on two lane paved roads and 75 MPH on interstate and my, along with most everyone else's, vehicles all get better fuel mileage numbers at those speeds than they do driving slowly around town at 45 and less? You know those 'City VS highway' fuel economy numbers they all come from the factory with?

Its not that I don't care rather I would like to get some place before I die of old age plus as far as I know I am free to spend my money on what I choose to even if its big fast vehicles and fuel for those vehicles. I expect no less for others as well.

So you going to explain how these EV's of yours will charge themselves or what?

Give me a bigger barrel or smaller fish to shoot at here.

If we charge EV by renewables instead of fossil fuel we can reduce depletion of ozone layer

One might think that supply/demand would affect the cost in a nice, easy-to-understand formula like that...but it doesn't work that way in real life.

In the US fuel consumption, both gas and oil, hasn't decreased and in most markets has increased due to "consumer confidence", the "decrease in unemployment", and other factors. Yet, the price of gas at the pump has steadily increased. Buying in bulk and decreasing the per-share cost of an item generally brings prices down and encourages more buying. We see the opposite with fuel, and the oil companies post record profits year after year, especially noticeable since the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

I don't think that we, as consumers, can affect the price of fuel that easily. It's just not going to happen. Besides, EV manufacturing and the parts for conversion require more petroleum on the production end of the vehicle when compared to traditional motor vehicles.

If you want to close the hole in the ozone layer, concentrate on methane. Eat less.

You can not beat the Gasoline Strangle Hold, other wise the government would mass produce Electric cars and give them away to the Public. No more Gas to pollute space. NEVER HAPPEN!

"You can not beat the Gasoline Strangle Hold, other wise the government would mass produce Electric cars and give them away to the Public."

That is a ridiculous statement.

What government would do this? Where do you live? Never mind, it doesn't matter.

The U.S. Military is the single largest consumer of petroleum products in the world.

As a combined force they use more product in one day than some small countries...Greece for example.

Under this modified form of supply-and-demand (where the sale price rises as surplus and demand also rise) the U.S. Gov't would surely have some effect on the price of oil...wouldn't they?

This is a conspiracy that even Mel Gibson would love!

You are aware that only a percentage of petroleum fuels go to the vehicles we drive.

Trains, ships, boats, aircraft, power generation, farming and industiral equipment, heating homes buildings and anything else that needs it, and so on and so forth all combined use the larger percentage.

I wasn't aware our gas was polluting space though. I thought our gravity and atmosphere did a pretty good job of keeping it out of the vacuum of space.

...and if there was a wind mill on the roof, it would drive for FREE because when it drove down the road, the moving air would make enough electricity to power the car.

When will they be ready to buy?

OK, so if I get twenty bicycle generators, and rub five of them against each tire, or maybe just three each on the fronts, and seven each on the back tires will I be able to recharge the batteries on on my electric golf cart?
