It depends on country, climatic conditions,equipments/appliances/light fittings used etc In USA there are standard rates for lighting/sq ft,receptacle- 90VA/single outlet as well for others like washing machine, dryer, oven, cooking range, dish washer,ac,fridge etc. In India you should consult an experienced Consultant,I don't know whether there are indian publications on this. Check with "electrical expert 65",our forum member, for example.

The only way that <...cost per sqft...> problems can be solved is by hiring a local Purchasing Officer with a telephone and a penchant for analysis. After all, the country of installation and its currency have been withheld from the forum.

Invitation declined.

Oh! Thanks Mr. pnaban, for the compliment! Have I earned my reputation?

But, my experience is mostly with industrial electrical installations. However, I will enquire with my friends and try to help the OP. I think, there is a National Buildings Code published by the Bureau of Indian Standards, where there should be some guidelines on this. Let me check up!

Re: Electrical Estimation

Here is the short of it.........

Things to consider:

Size and quantity of service, Size and type of service panel, Type and quantity of light fixtures, Type and quantity of receptacles, Size and quantity of auxiliary loads, Romex or conduit, Type and quantity of V/D drops, and Prevailing labor rate in your area.

Total material: $XXX.XXX + Total labor (time): $XXX.XXX = Total T&M: $XXX.XXX

Total T&M $XXX.XXX / 4000 sq/ft = $XXX.XXX per sq/ft

Now to decide the approx cost by knowing the area of the building:

4000 Area of building sq/ft X $XXX.XXX Cost per sq/ft = Approx. cost by knowing area of building - $XXX.XXX

Vague / Unknown = Vague
