Selection for Control Cables for Transformer

Dear All,

How can i calculate the Size of Control cables for Transformer, like from RTCC panel ,Transformer OLTC and for DG Syncronisation panel to DG(Deisel generator).

Please tell me the formulas with detail.

I put up in bangalore(India)

This is not ordinarily done by formulas, but rather by looking up in electrical code tables. There are already many CR4 threads on this topic that you may search.

Yes. Purchase a copy of your local electrical code. There are several tables that will apply, according to ambient temperature, voltage drop in the conductors, how the conductors are enclosed, how many there are, etc.

Study the drawings of each item,check terminal block connections and decide size and the number of cores and then check VD.

Generally 2.5 sq.mm Copper conductor cable would do for control applications.

What are the recommended minimum sizes of control/lighting/power cable as per IS/BS/IEC/NEC/VDE etc?.
