Looking For a Favor

06/16/2012 6:51 PM

Hello, I'm a U.S. Navy Veteran (Disabled). About 8 years ago I had all of my tools stolen during a cross country move. Very sorry for the sob story, but I have no means of making any types of working models for ideas that I have.

I have been thinking about two ideas that are definitely winners. The first is a very efficient AC Generator, and the other is a way to send electricity through the air with laser straight precision. AC and DC, and if the power is increased enough one would have a beam weapon.

If anybody out there is interested please contact me.

I have a problem understanding how significient amounts of power can be transmitted wirelessly without killing anything in the path of the beam. Think about it.

AC generator, maybe. But I have no way to develop it either.

Well, application that comes to mind could be used on electric trains that use over head transmission lines. No more physical contact and all of the benefits that come with that. And I'm sure that there are countless military applications.

It might be interesting to know what the basic scheme behind the "very efficient AC generator" is, and why it is significantly more efficient than already existing designs.

Without giving too much away there are three things that I think are significant. (1) the ability to regulate operating temperature. (2) Many more production coils in each generator. (3) Variable duty cycle, possibly 1Hz to 1000Hz, maybe more.

AC generators (also known as alternators ) are already pretty good. Efficiency 95 - perhaps 98%, depending on size. What will you be aiming for?

First, let me just say: Thanks for your service. And sorry for your disability.

'Disability' covers a wide range. My father-in-law was retired Air Force, 100 per cent disabled, but still able to walk, drive a car, etc. The 'disability' qualification was due to a bullet and dozens of pieces of shrapnel in his body he got at Hickam Field / Pearl Harbor.

So if you can still get around, I was wondering if you could take a class at a nearby university and get to know a professor in the physics or engineering departments who might be able to give you some guidance. Perhaps a regular class - day or night - or even some kind of 'lifetime learning' or 'college extension' classes. A good one might be an astronomy class, since astronomers have to know a wide range of physics including energy types and sources, lasers, radio transmission and so forth. In addition there are classes on basic electronics where you would have access to tools you might be able to use for personal projects.

Just thoughts...
