Testing of Three Phase Transformer

07/13/2012 5:07 AM

if we short LV blue phase(b) and HV blue phase(B) of 33kv/430v 1ooKVA step down transformer and supply a single phase voltage to HV red (R) phase with respect to Y phase then what would be the other voltages for a transformer to work normally.

ie. RY voltage is known(say it is 200v) what would be the values of:

RB, YB, ry,rb,yb...

what this test z called???

thanking in advance

Does it say do this in the equipment manufacturer's commissioning instructions? Come to think of it, where is the manufacturer's Commissioning Engineer in all this?

Can only agree with Mr Slack on this. The questions you are asking suggest you are a little out of your depth.

Hmm.... This sounds like a good Newsletter Challenge.

The energized primary winding will induce voltages in the other two, but not in normal 120° phase relationship....

This, in fact, is called the vector group test in transformers.
