When Synchronous Motor is used Over Induction type Motor

In a new project, for Reciprocating Compressor 185 KW, Service Propane gas, Client asked Synchronous Motor Drive. What could be the reason for same?

Check with compressor manufacturer whether syn motor is essential.

Maybe it's a typo, and they mean an asynchronous motor (though it's an unusual way to put it).

Or maybe it's a musician who wants his machine vibrations to have perfect pitch.
