Here are some possibilities (from AcronymFinder). Several might apply.

IPS Tubes are used for Sub-Station buses. The IPS Tube fittings are designed to see that sharp edges are avoided so that Corona activity is minimized.

Ingress Protection Standard possibly?

Your guess is as good as ours based on the little information you have given - it could be any number of acronyms, all of which could relate directly to substations.

Can you provide more information?

Your acknowledgement is wrong! In outdoor sub-stations, they generally use a tubular aluminium bus. The sizes of this hollow tubular Aluminium Bus bars are covered in a standard called the International Pipe Standard. For example, in a 66kV Switchyard, we may use a 4" IPS Aluminium Bus, which means that we are going to use a 4" Aluminium bus, whose specifications are elaborated in the International Pipe Standard or IPS.

Ingress Protection, is generally specified only as IP and not as IPS and it will have significance in Indoor Sub-stations, for example, in Switchboards.

It is for 'Instant Power Supply'. IPS is similar to UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). The major difference between UPS and IPS is that UPS has zero switching time (i.e. no interruption of power) while IPS has longer switching time (i.e. momentary interruption of power).
