I am designing a clevis lug system and would appreciate if someone could guide me to some good references that i can start with...e.g calculation of the shear stress on bolts..spacing between lug and clevis and etc...

S = F/2Apin. The spacing between lug and clevis should be as small as feasible after allowing clearance for movement, such as from flexing sideways.

Have you looked for an existing design that will work?

Vanuta,

Why are you designing clevis lugs ?

Do you have a tremendous load that requires a special unique design ?

These are ancient simple devices, produced en-mass, with load capacities are verified by destructive testing.

Why don't you simply purchase what you need on the open market ?
