Blending Unit

10/17/2012 3:31 AM

i am designing a malt blending unit for a plant but i am failing to find other sources and designs on which i can bench mark my design. If there are any patents links pliz help.My design is going to use screw converyors which have motors which are controlled by variable speed drives.Control of speed of two motors will be controlling the flow of the malt which will be being fed from two silos into one converyor

This is blending, not homogenisation, correct?

So if the two streams are fed into the conveyor at one point, then blending will have been achieved.

I can't offer any technical help with the blender: but if you need any volunteers to taste check the final product: put my name down.

apparently thats the tricky part of the design, the malt is not being fed from the same point, the discharges from the silos is from different positions and due to the layout,it cant be changed.but both converyors systems are feeding into a flight converyor.

Then the blending takes place at the exit point of the flight conveyor as the material arrives at the destination. Until that point, the two solids are merely lying on top of each other.

For Solid screws as blenders, is this malt ground?

Your probally are looiking at a bottom unloading? No size is given? Twin or Single Screw?

One thing I had done early in my career, is look at used blenders on the market. Try this as a benchmark. You would be surprised at used blender prices.
