Boiler Feed Pump

10/17/2012 7:40 AM

We have replaced the bearings bearing housing and lub oil as per OEM OF THE BFW pump.

But the still the thrust bearing tempreraure is high.

Can any one give any superior idea to get rid of that.

Water boils at 1000 C. Is it not apparent to you that boiler feed temperature is unduly high? Please read this:

How are bearings cooled? Separate electric pump or shaft off the motor or pump?

Check for adequate flow to bearings.

Also have your vibrations guy check for problems (providing he is better at vib analysis than I am :)

cooling is by a shaft mounted fan. it is new. oil circulation is by oil rings only. the same pump (stand by) thrust bearing temp is 56-60 deg c. but his pump mentains above 85deg c.

vibration of both the pumps are equal.

Well, it must be worth a couple of telephone calls to the OEMs of both the bearing and the pump.
