It appears to be power factor correction equipment for industry. It can only have a return on investment if there is a charge for non-unity power factor on the supply tariff. As this does not apply to domestic supplies as the consumption is rarely approaching the full capacity of the supply cable, investment in the equipment for domestic use would not be worthwhile.

The best way to save energy in the home is to switch things off. The next best thing is draught-excluder tape for the windows and a range of thermostats and time-switches for things that do need to be on from time to timeand thick insulation in loft spaces. Beyond that, one is investing in energy-saving lighting, followed by cavity wall insulation and multiple glazing for the windows. Do these things first, and in that order, then report back for some more suggestions.

Do you work for them? Often times I see posts in forums containing detailed product names and model numbers for energy scam devices that are posed as questions. But in reality the postings are just a ploy to get people to do a web search on the name of the scam device. Then the scam company uses the web search hit data in order to scam even more money from investors in their scam by pointing to the web traffic as if it is genuine interest in the scam device.

It's all a scam, none of it is real, there is no "magic box" that is going to reduce your REAL energy consumption.

Did I mention that it is a scam?

I reply to you, but it is to all of you. Thank you for looking into the link. A friend asked me the question and I wasn't comfortable to respond without more ideas either. That is the reason why I posted it here. I think a metal box with a capacitor (and something more?) can in no way save current that you already paid for. (as they claim) The phi factor might or might not affect the meter reading. Just found it strange that a company as smarthome takes this under her wings. I wish I could have posted a real link, but I couldn't get in the post. Thank you.D (P.S. I am not working for them or with them)

Your instincts are correct: reducing CURRENT is not the same as saving EVENRGY. What these devices do is make it APPEAR as though less current is being used, which is good enough to fool most people who do not understand the complexities of power factor.
