A Non-Drinking Alcoholic

I once heard about a man who was fired from jobs and arrested for driving while intoxicated. The fact was, he never drank and he would swear to it. A Japanese doctor came to his rescue after hearing about his case and came up with the answer. The man had a rare aliment where carbohydrates in his system would convert to alcohol, giving the appearance of drunkenness. I have often wondered how many others may have this aliment and don't know it.

This was something I read about many years ago and have not kept up with it. I would suspect that keeping away from carbohydrates would be part of the answer.

The real money is to be made in the opposite direction: Come up with a way to be totally sloshed and yet pass a breathalyzer test....
