Go back to the dealer and press for a response, saying that a purchase order is on hold until the information arrives.

What do you mean by "exact specification" of a drive belt?

Exactly. If it fits, why not just install it? If it doesn't last long it's not likely to cost an arm and a leg, and you can try harder next time.

I am confused. Why would you buy a specific drive belt if you do not know its specifications?

Were you buying a defined SIZE or LENGTH of WIDTH/DEPTH?

What caused you to buy it in the first place?

What difference does its specifications make?

Well -the story about this drive belt begun as I asked a friend of mine- Asaf, who is a machines engineer about a drive belt which is flexible enough to be mounted on a very small diameter shaft, so Asaf recomended me a belt for washing machine, that he claimed from his own experience, to give a good answer for what I need. The dealer gave me this belt, but I want to be sure- probably it will be better to use 2 belts on the same shaft for the torque I need. The torque is very important for me. I assume that anyway this belt will sustain 1000r.p.m without any problems.

As long as you have a pulley on your shaft, that's real close to the size on your standard washer, you should be fine-or a double pulley, in this case. If you don't, the belts won't hold up long. You will also want to make a tensioner.

Mr. Native, you could not find anything on Google because I suspect your spelling was incorrect. It's not "Marloni"...try Merloni as in Ardo Merloni washing machines. You'll get a number of hits for replacement belts. You will most likely not find the specifications you're looking for because these are generic European made components.

Am I correct in assuming you plan to use this belt as part of the drive train for your power assist bicycle?

DOUBLE BINGO TO TERRAMANֱ:In fact I was wondering who will be this guy that will decipher this riddle...

And you're correct for the merloni- at least I found this site by myself and without the specifications. The reason that I wrote marloni and not merloni. is that I got the name written unpunctuated Hebrew,so I didn't know if it should be a or e!

In that case you may want to look into belts specifically designed for bicycles. I doubt that one made for a washing machine will handle significant torque and abuse for very long. There are many brands available on the market. I don't know what you have in your area but I'm sure many of the European brands are available. Gates Carbon Drive has some nice products. I have one on my mounain bike. Good luck.

Dear Terraman- After that the owner of the store where one of his employes- the "expert" gave me the worm gear reducer-said that the worm gear is very inefficient, I decided to solve the problem with a belt drive, that will enable me to reduce the engine's r.p.m about 12 times, with minimum weight and cost!

Therefore I was looking for a very flexible belt, and Asaf told me that this washing machine belt will provide the best solution.

Since I do not plan to use this bicycle more than 2-3 hours per week, I hope that this belt which costs about 13$, will endure about 1 year.

Anyway I plan to use as much as possible from my own muscles and fitness, so it will reduce some of the strain on the belt!
