	IN POWER plant start up and shut down tank near HRSG, Where we dump all hot drains. MY question is that , Our drain line( normally 2 in dia ) parameters are high ( 574 deg C and 148 bar) , and our Blow down Tanks lance ( 8 to 12 in dia )design parameters are 574 deg and 5.2 bar. So what should be the type of connection in between drain line and Tank Lance means, it should be as per branch or as per lance design parameter. We have a control valve on every drain line before lance connection. I would appreciate any one can help us regarding the behavior of fluid ( Hot drain ) from opening of valve to flushing in lance header. How much pressure and temperature drops in pipe segment in between valve and header. What govern this phenomenon how we can improve the design of this portion.

	Well, the correct forum for this question is a HazOp Study at the facility where the consequences of the proposed change should be considered with all drawings and relevant personnel present. It would be unwise to rely on the responses to a posting in an anonymous Engineering internet forum. 	Dear Mr. chauhan, Can you pl. provide a sketch.? What we did is we provided one HEAT EXCHANGER for recovering the Heat from the drain lines as well as Blow down water, with some pre-cautions. It helped in 2 ways, the Heat was recovered by the Condensate coming out of the Condenser, and all the water recycled. The Temp.of the condensate from the drains were 95 Deg.C only, and the condensate from Condenser was heated considerably, thereby Load on De-Aerator is reduced. DHAYANANDHAN.S
