On a more serious note, how in the world do people like this make it into office? Perhaps some basic science proficiency should be a requirement to represent any portion of the US population.

I've recommended the same IQ tests and psych evals that we put our Seal teams and Army Rangers through.

Nothing against people that aren't very bright, or are emotionally unstable; I just don't want them making decisions that affect the entire country.

voting should have the same criteria. now you have an entire generation of voters that vote for whoever is going to play "Robin Hood..and take money from Simone (or business, or next generation) and give them a freebie, free health care, education, etc

I've got plenty of animosity toward both parties, but we don't want to politicize this serious scientific topic.

Imagine the types of laws that would be passed, if the majority of our representatives thought that population densities could capsize islands.

We could also discuss the valuable scientific conclusions of Todd Akin, but I think the larger issue is: Should there be some type of vetting process, beyond likability?

Hawaii has flotation devices built into the coastline. No worries about it flipping.

Guam could roll at any time. It is rapidly approaching its critical population limit and without enough Federal funding to "protect" the coast with ballast, or counterweights, it is in dire straights.

Our elected officials know what's best.

Yeah. I got to thinking about it, and I'm pretty sure that the vast amounts of lava has enough air pockets in it to keep the islands afloat.

Just to be safe though, we should keep the population fairly evenly distributed, to keep the islands level.

Good lord if we did that nationwide and worldwide and carried the same aptitude testing over into the business world we could single handedly flip the whole economic world over as we see it today!

90% or better of our world politicians and corporate management would be out on the street unfit to work at most fast food places dumping garbage!

Just think of the special interest groups. They would have absolutely no one to whine to that would care or listen to them any more!
