Beat me to it. I just came here to post a comment about the google doodle. [Btw, Google says it's his 306th, not 360th.)
Euler is the mathematician who, unfortunately, gave us pi as the circle constant. After reading 'The Tau Manifesto' and seeing the online video, it's clear we would have been better off if he had chosen tau ( = 2 pi ) instead. Mathematics, particularly trigonometry is much clearer when tau is used instead of pi.
(I know - for all the great math he did, it's not fair to criticize him for one poor choice.)
Here's a short version of 'The Tau Manifesto' by Vi Hart: Pi is wrong

I have been corrected on my pronunciation of 'Euler'. Apparently the first should be pronounced as 'oi' in 'Oil', so something like 'Oi-lehr' or 'Oi-leh' depending on how German your company happens to be.
.
But now that I am in the habit of saying 'Oi-lehr', my tongue wants to extend the rule to other mathematicians.
I find myself wanting to say things like 'Oi-clidean' geometry instead of Euclidean geometry.
