How come the P91 got mixed up with the P9?

We purchased P9 material but during PMI checking (after welding ) There is vanadium content in the material and % of the same 0.19 %.

So the reason for the query as inferred from question 2 is to find out a way of selling potentially off-spec material. What does the Client's specification say?

Grind all the welds off and use the correct material, welded per the welding specification you are building to, and PWHT per your staff metallurgist's instructions.

Next time, send it to a competent shop for fabrication.

I think that you are talking about SA 335 (Right?)

then:

SA 335 Type P9 corresponding to Welding P-number 5B and

SA 335 Type 91 corresponding to welding P-number 15E (15E Around 4 years ago)

If you see ASME IX 2010 QW-422 the minimun tensile is different ( Take care But welding is possible). You need a WPS/PQR (Include PMI in your Approved PQR and use it for reference). Be carfully with the pre heat and the PWHT. According with ASME I, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3 or what ?

Filler metal?????
