accumulator pot

what size shall have an accumulator pot--- for shut-off valve(solenoid valve) on a pipe line = 20'' ?

What is the purpose of the accumulator?

It could be for any of the following:

1. Water hammer i.e shock, as when the valve closes

2. Fluid expansion - in the pipe line

3. Storage: To close the valve in emergency

Any others not covered.

You will need to supply a lot more detail beforewe can go any further
