There might be some difficulties in acquiring PFDs and UFDs for real plants via an open forum. Some of the information contained in them might be considered "commercially sensitive", in that they contain fundamental processing information that a competitor might find attractive in the scheme of setting up competing facilities.

...for that reason many drawings contain instructions to the recipient not to disclose its contents to outside parties...

A flow diagram usually is applicable to a specific process and may therefore not be applicable in any other situation.

Diagrams may also vary in complexity (and size). A5 to A0 or bigger.

It is assumed that you require some generic examples for inclusion within a report.

Please supply more detail of your requirements and intentions.

Sorry we don't have oil.

I have seen some diagrams from SASOL. (Oil from coal) (Fisher-Tropsch process).

Try them on Google.

I can help you with samples of PFD and P&ID. Please send your e-mail.

Note: P&ID = Piping and Instrumentation Diagram, is a detailed and complete issue of PFD.

"More modern meaning of P & ID is PROCESS and Instrumentation Diagram"

Noooooooo, it is a wrong modern definition.

The actual definition of P&ID is "Piping and Instrumentation Diagram".

Have you seen some documents from Great Chemical Companies in USA?

Logically: piping << process, which equipment data is on the Diagram. Are they not right? Hydraulic piping diagrams require pipe dimensions, at least for diameters. These, mostly you do not see on P&ID, right? Even on examples shown in this discussion.

So I think it is good to know how other MODERN engineers + managers call P&ID too.

I have used P&ID = Piping... Diagrams meaning until 1988 then had also to show my students some Chem Industry documentations with P&ID = Process... Diagrams too.

Do you know e.g. how is read DCS? It has also more then one "meaning". Be careful with strong NO, you may not know what the other expert is interpreting, and maybe s/he is right! In real life this guy could give or not give you a huge $$ = USD order/offer depending how you read his P&ID. I have lost one when I spell differently words for DC .

Have a good time
