Is it possible to use PVC plastic welding rod?what kind or grade of PVC welding rod is exist and be reasonable for me?

you know I got some PVC welding rod but after welding the seams became so hard.the flexibility is crucial for me.

Someone must know how to do it, otherwise all the waterproof clothing manufacturers would be out of business:

Most of these thin things are ultrasonically welded, using no filler materials.

I'm assuming this person has a thermoplastic welding gun.

Filler material is added by the operator, by hand, just like tig welding metal.

More than you wanted to know, I'm sure.

Hi Lyn,

You might want to look at the product review at the site you linked to for the welder. It apparently is a very defective product, not viable. Was there another one you could suggest?

Dan,

The gun I referenced was an example of an inexpensive gun that required no air compressor to provide the air flow needed for thermoplastic welding.

It was not an endorsement of the product.

I'd use Wegener Autotherm Welder or Wegener Duratherm Welder if I wanted the best results.

But, even the best gun won't assure correct penetration and welding speed. The operator is still the most important tool in the tool box.

By the way, take your BIG check book along if you want a top quality welding gun.

Ask for FPVC (Flexible PVC) rod if you went flexible joints.

Professional Plastics (Disclaimer) carries it, as do other plastics suppliers.

Doen't anybody use a search engine for this simple stuff?

No, never used it. All my work was welding (I didn't actually DO the welding) 1 inch thick rigid PVC to make large chemical tanks and process machines.

Go to the supplier's web site.

Or, call them up on a phone.
