Hopefully that price includes all the costs to retire the 8 nuclear reactors aboard....

Hand pirates one of the largest carriers staffed with a crew capable of providing PR, governmental influence, and vast funding....?!?

.

I can't think of much else they might need that couldn't be procured through those avenues.....

.

.... so I guess you are correct about 'job done'.

gut it and turn it into a reef/dive destination. leave the deck above the waves so choppers have a landing pad

Park on the shoulder of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in Brooklyn. NY. It will be gone in one week. It would usually take less time than that but an aircraft carrier is a really big vehicle to steal.

Good Luck, Old Salt

Actually not a bad price for the complete dismantling of a nuclear carrier and the inherent radiation problems. There will be costs on top of that to either reclaim the fuel or dispose and store the contamination.

Of course you can't forget the asbestos removal and disposal since the approach to that problem has been to contain the material where possible.

Just out of curiosity, if you were bidding that job firm price what would you go in at?

There are probably several other types of contamination in addition to radiological and asbestos that will increase cost and time to completion significantly...there may even be a small increase in actual risk.

.

PCB contamination/clean up is certain to have contributed to the bill.
