No Secondary Voltage Output +5, -5, +24, -24

07/22/2013 12:55 AM

Good Day!

I have problem with a machine AVL Electrolytes analyzer. There are no power output of +5 v, -5 v, +24, -24 volts. I replace the U1 IC with part no. uc3843bn and Q1 regulator 6n60A. There are voltage indicated of the primary circuit through the B+. But when you power up or press the power button no power output indicated of the machine.

I will pay If there are payment, the important that I can solve the problem of this machine. If you have replacement of this power supply of AVL Electrolytes Analyzer Model: 9181 100-240 volts AC with SN: U19-1279. You can contact me through my email add:

Isolate supply from the equipment and use appropriate resistors as loads on its outputs. Does it start? What's the voltage on pin 7 relative to 5? (GND). Current sense resistor giving current feedback (through another resistor) from mosfet's Source to pin 3 tests OK? Should be <<1 ohm. Any obvious fault on HF transformer or one of the four fast power diodes? Of course a scope could make troubleshooting easier. S.M.

I will try to check again the Power Supply sir, base of your instruction. I will message you again about the result of my test. Do you have any email sir? I will sent to you the picture of this power supply.

There may be a sequence to analyze the problem using a service manual. However here it goes for you for absolutely free.

1) Look at primary mains fuse for continuity - open means replacement required

2) Look at primary of the transformer if there is AC voltage - if not then look for line fault, connector fault etc

3) Loom at primary AC current and it must be within specifications. Zero current means transformer primary open and higher current means output shorted

4) Look at the secondary of the transformer if there is AC voltage - if there is no or less voltage then look at rectifiers as they may be dead, shorted or defective

5) Tank capacitor to hold charge may be damaged if there is lots of ripple here. Tantalum capacitor often shorts and blows off.

6) Finally check the regulators.

if you have switching supply then method may differ.

You may have switching oscillator, MOSFET, pulse transformer and feedback sense opto isolator. You may also have some PTC thermistors or resettable fuse.

Do all tests by isolating supply from load if feasible.
