Mitsubishi Split AC

07/23/2013 8:57 PM

Dear all,

Sorry if I put this thread in the wrong section but its a related to Split AC so I thought it would be in this section.

I bought a new 1.5ton(18000btu) Mitsubishi Electric AC model: MS-F18VC. I am using it since 17 June, 2013. I need to clear some clarities raised in my mind.

1. There are two light indicators (green LED may be )on the indoor unit. What are the for what purpose?

2. Someone told me that 1 LED is for power indicator and other is for compressor indicator. Is that so?

3. When I start AC by remote, the outdoor unit starts cooling after three minutes. Cooling starts and both LEDs are ON. I usually set the temperature at 26 degree. After sometime 1 LED remians ON and other goes OFF. Is that happens in a normal AC operation?

4. Someone tell me that when the room temperature meets to the set temperature(set by remote), the compressor LED becomes OFF and also outdoor unit should be off? Is it normal?

5. In my split AC, compressor LED becomes OFF and it remains off but outdoor unit starts ON and OFF in short time intervals.

For Example: I start AC and set the temperature 26 degree by remote. Both LEDs are ON. My room starts to cool until the compressor LED becomes OFF. I go to the outdoor unit to verify that is it ON or OFF. It is OFF. Now after some minutes(perhaps 10 to 12mins), outdoor unit again starts but the Compressor LED is still OFF. after some minutes(12-15), outdoor unit becomes OFF again and this operation continues.

My question is this the normal operation of split AC or there is something wrong with the indoor or outdoor unit? I think when compressor LED is off, outdoor unit must be off.

I am worry about the electricity consumption and hence the electricity bill that could may rise very high.

Only serious replies are requested to put. Thanks

Go to your installer. This unit was delivered with an owner manual that was supposed to be left with you.

Get it from him.

Discuss the matter with the supplier, by telephone.

Why?

And if the bill is too high, reduce the amount of cooling.

Today, i started it and set the temperature at 26 degree. The compressor light became off exactly 20 minutes. Than I went to the outdoor unit to check wheather it is ON or OFF but it was ON. I waited more 20 minutes but outdoor unit didn't OFF/trip.

Also I heared a sound in outdoor unit while operating. This sound like was a wind passing through some hollow thing. This sound was not present when I bought the AC and operated it in beginning days.

Do you think there is insufficient gas in the compressor that is not cooling the room and hence compressor is not tripping? I believe in beginning days, it was perfectly cooling and there was no sound in the outdoor unit

what do you say now?

When you switch on the AC first the blower of the indoor unit will start. After that compressor starts. It is to protect the compressor. From the description you gave it seems that the AC is working normal. You can ask for the O & M manual of the unit. Read it particularly the trouble shooting section

One LED should always be ON indicating the AC power is on.

The other LED will also be ON up until the unit reach desired temperature setting.

Compressor will continue to cycle ON /OFF, to maintain set temperature.

You seem fairly cool when examining the indoor unit and grumpy when outside. Stay cool inside an read the manual when ever a question arises.
