There's probably a time-out function on the data entry box comprising the "Ask A Question" entry field. The solution is to type-up a question in a word processing package, then cut and paste it into the entry box when everything is ready to go.

Thanks. I wish that information was publicized in a clear and easy to see format. I spent a lot of time and dedication writing my question and was very upset to have it erased.

Best Regards and Thanks again,

John

It's become a common problem.

Even if simply replying to a thread, if your post is more than a couple of sentences, you should copy it before attempting to submit.

Most of us have been through this at least once.

Thanks Kramarat. As stated by PWSlack, "Its probably....." Does anyone know for sure if its a time out function? What is the time limit? Wouldn´t it be kinder to serious users to flash a warning message alerting them that unless they click on a box or something, their message will be erased? Why was this function added? Were there problems with users doing something wrong? What does it protect CR$ against.

Often there are very good reasons for these functions but at this moment in time I can´t imagine what the reason would be and in a technically inclined site it´s fairly normal to take time in an answer.

I guess this is a job for the IT manager or Webmaster guy.

I don't think it's intentional. The time out seems to occur within 5-10 minutes.
