Over the weekend, long posts still disappearing.

Haven't had time to try today.

If I stay in the editing screen for more than about five minutes I can preview the comment (the preview screen appears fine) but when I submit the post, I get an error stating that the post could not be made.

I usually copy the text before posting, then just go back into the thread, paste and submit.

Is that still happening today?

It just happened, 17 Sep, at about 0720 PST.

I submitted a post on this thread: IT DataCenter Equipment Row Separation

...and got this the first time I tried to submit: "Could not process form: The system was unable to process this form."

I started the post, then left the computer for about 20 minutes. The screen had locked in the meantime (10-minute lock), so I unlocked and finished my post, which took about 10 minutes. I copied the text, previewed, then submitted. That's when the error appeared.

Same is still happening to me.

Anymore, I just use the copy function on my entire post, and if it doesn't go through, I just hit reply again, and paste my post in the new reply field. It seems to time out after just a few minutes.

Also, this is the only site that frequently slows to an absolute crawl...especially when responding to a thread.

Yep, I'm getting this error this morning.

The problem has been going on long enough that I've pretty much gotten in the habit of (select all, copy) frequently, if composing in the CR4 editor, so I can bring it up again and repost when it fails. I haven't had time to post for several days, so don't know whether the problem persists still.

The problem still exists this morning 9/17 7:30 PDT.

The error says in part 'couldn't process form'.

It might have to do with the fact that I temporarily left the editor page to go back and look at the original post, then returned to the editor and added more text before submitting the post.

P.S Edited in FireFox (Up to date) on a Mac running OS10.8.4.

As of last week I still had a couple replies that would have been lost if I hadn't copied and pasted what I'd written to the clipboard, just in case.

I can't remember the 'error' message I got from CR4, but I think was something like 'sorry this action cannot be processed' -- it was the same message others had gotten. Each time it took a couple tries at refreshing the page before the proper connection was re-established.

Tried to post from my iPad, but received error that your system would to accept format.

Posts simply disappeared recently. At what time (eastern time zone) does CR4 send its forum to subscribers. I do not get new updates until after 10:30 pm. Lynn's post 5 is revealing. However, it appears the forum thread on a specific topic has been discussed long before I see it. sometimes I do not see any new forum until the next day. I do not care as much as just wondering. This has been my normal for some time..years.

Ok, just tried to update profile but am not allowed. Thought I could get the daily forum sent at an earlier time than 10:30 pm. Still have not seen any new posts for today, Sept, 18, 2013.

What are you trying to update? The CR4 Daily Digest email goes out to everyone at around 10:00 PM Eastern time. That's not something that you can change.

It's a list of the posts from 5:00 PM on the previous day to 5:00 PM on the current day.

Something must be strange; You posted this thread at: 9:05 on the 16th but I did not see it until after 10 pm on the 16th. When I opened it most comments were posted much earlier. If everyone gets it at the same time, how do they post earlier? I just tried to see if there was any activity today on today's mass send outs and yes they are already commenting today on emails from CR4 digest on Sept 18. I will get the same mailing after 10 pm. I have noticed this for a long time but never thought to ask till now. I have had responses to threads I have started (same day) long before 10 pm the same day. Just curious?

I'm not sure that I follow you. You don't have to wait for the Daily Digest email in order to respond to new threads. You can view them on the homepage or on the see all forum threads page and start commenting at any time.

Ok, thanks. At least now I know how others comment before I get to see new threads. I was just wondering.

Where can I find back copies of the Daily Digest emails?

That didn't work.

I last saw the error when trying to post in mid- August with attached photos. Assumed it was my old iMac.

I got "unable to process form" or whatever a couple of times on 14-Sep-13.

What ever happened to the simple Copy & Paste function for copying to our "Reply"? I'm always having problems with the Ctrl-C / Ctrl-V method. Usually takes me multiple attempts to make it work.

I've had the problem. Copy text and past to Word. Then copy and paste back to a new page on CR4. Seems to work.

I guessed it was a time-out problem at my end.

I have been on CR4 for 15 minutes reading, and now 4 minutes writing reply.

If it doesn't time-out you will get this message.

I will come back if I get the error message.

Saw the problem 09/16/2013 8:50 AM EDT (USA eastern) on submit.

Had to back up, copy the text out of the message and start a new message, which submitted correctly.

I keep a copy available in an editor, but it would appear that a timer is operating far too soon and stopping editing after some point!

Thanks for the input, everyone! Someone from technology had tried adding more resources to the server but that obviously didn't help. Hopefully there'll be another fix soon!

Just was posting in an old thread on the rates of freezing for hot vs cold water..and it happened again.

1 Page open 10 minutes. Writing reply 3 mins.

2 If the message stops here at line 2 it went without any problems

It logically points to a timeout issue... and it was still happening as of yesterday. Most know the workaround, though.

Just happened again when posting a PM. (Win7, up-to-date Firefox).

Still happening here too, several times over the last few days (through 10/90. It's rare when I can compose a thoughtful reply in a minute or two, so it is on most of my posts.

IT has discovered that there's always been a 15 minute timeout error, so if you're taking a long time to type out your posts this could be the reason for the errors.

They're still not sure why quicker responses are failing but are going to look at it as soon as they're able to.

I've added some of this information over here, but please continue to share reports of the problem on this thread so it's all in one place. Thanks!

I Haven't tested it that carefully, but I believe the problem occurs sooner than 15 minutes. Time flies when you're thinking...

I do sometimes use Word or CAD to compose messages, but recently I've just gotten in the habit of: (finish editing, select all, copy, previous window button, Reply button second time, paste, Preview, Submit)

It will be nice when that becomes unnecessary!

It seems to me the time-out starts from when I open CR4 and not from 'reply'. 15 minutes is not long enough to compose a reply, leave alone reading the posts.

This error has only appeared in the last few months.

I do not recall this problem in the early days when I first joined CR4.

Also just of late I have noticed it takes a long time to download threads and navigate pages once in the forum.

I think I might have figured out the slow loading pages.

At the top of the page is the facebook and twitter share links; if you hover your cursor over the orange "share" button to the right of FB and twitter, a menu drops down that includes an incredible 137 more ways to share the page.

I think the lag time, is the wait for all of that extraneous garbage to load.

Ha! I'd never even seen that row of buttons. I don't use any of those. Actually, I do have a Facebook account, but rarely go there, and seldom find anything useful when I do...

I just had the problem again about 2 minutes ago......it appears to be a timer that times out. I am amazed that nobody can find it!!!!

It was certainly not there say a year ago for example.

All they need to do is examine and/or roll-back the changes till its fixed!!! Then fix the fix!!!

Just in case, the problem also applies to private mail messages. I just had the problem when it took me around half an hour to compose a private mail message. Fortunately, I did remember to copy all before submitting, so I just paged back to the original, pressed reply a second time, and pasted the text, and it worked fine. As Andy says, it's clearly a timeout problem.

I have seem no improvement. It happens too many times to report.

Sick of wasting 20-30 minutes writing up something, only to see it vanish! I cannot understand why you got rid of copy/cut and paste - it works everywhere else but CR4. The Ctrl C/V thing is a real pain and frequently erases my entry completely.

You can bypass the custom CR4 right click menu and copy and paste with the mouse. But CTRL C or CTRL V should not erase your content unless you copy something else in between selecting your text on CR4 and pasting. CTRL X is cut.

I have no trouble with ctrlC/V. Works every time. Firefox.

The timeout is still there.....sadly!

Hi, Just happened again, this time while responding to a private message in my Inbox.

It's still happening 12/1/13!

I've done no timing, but it seems like it's getting worse! I just posted a short 3-paragraph reply, and had to use the work-around. A day or two ago, the same thing happened on a short single-paragraph reply that could only have taken a few minute.

PS. This reply worked the first time.

CR4 seems to have lost all their good programmers, this must be easy to find for one with some proper knowledge.....sorry to say that, but this problem has been around for years months?

It happens to most people, it appears to be time sensitive, why is it SO difficult to fix??????

My best thoughts are that CR4 has no resources/money to look for the problem....or has no interest.

It just happened to me again, too.

BUT

There's a real easy work around.

If you you push "submit" and get the "could not process" message, don't panic.

Just click "back" in your browser. It will bring your work back. Then just highlight and copy the entire thing. From there, hit the "back" button until you are back on the thread you were reading, go to the post you were responding to, hit "reply" again, paste your previous work in the reply box, and submit it.

I've done that several times now, it works, and it just takes a few extra seconds.

Most importantly, you don't feel like smashing your computer, because you just spent ten minutes typing something and it's just gone.

This morning I had to follow that procedure twice (but with a single 'copy'). The first time I still got the error message; the second time it worked.

As long as you didn't lose your work.

When this first started happening, I lost a couple of well thought out and fairly lengthy responses, and it pissed me off so bad that I almost stopped coming here...or at least bothering to respond to anything.

I haven't had it happen twice like that. Maybe if you refresh the thread page before responding the second time?

I have been doing that for at least 8 months, as most if not all of us do.....
