SolarEagle! Another favor

Please answer this

What is the total capacitance of capacitors connected in series, C1=1214F, C2=2121F ? Result must be INTEGER (without -F-)

pleeeeeeeeeease

Re: Voltage

The last time I checked, the total capacitance for series capacitors was:

C= 1/(1/C1+1/Cn)

in your example:

C= 1/ (1/1214 + 1/2121) = 1/ (.0008237 + 0.0004714) = 1/0.001295 = 772.0821 F

Can't be an integer

Its an answer, but not a correct one.

Watts = Volts x Amps x PF in an AC circuit.

Of course, being a solar guy, the Eagle hasn't ever had to do any AC calcs so his formula is fine for DC applications.

You forgot √3 for 3-phase.

Don't be a meanie-bum. Offer a prize for getting the right answer!

Anyway - why not just stick a voltmeter on it and ask that instrument instead?

Just as soon as FedEx (other delivery services are available) gets here with 2*3500 miles of single-conductor voltmeter connector lead.

Presumably it will want a signature?

Oh, and a boat, with supplies and a bed for four nights' Atlantic travel each way while the cables are paid out...

Hang on. Who is paying for all this?

It's a little tough to get along in here when you're a newby, but don't quit, be patient, you'll figure how to improve (or adapt) your comunication skills; then it will become a highly rewarding experience, this site is really a pond of wisdom.

Hope to see you often

You must be in school to get a degree in management, because rather than figuring out the answer, you are trying to coerce someone more competent to do your work for you.

Good luck with that... And by the way here is a hint for you future as an incompetent manager: highly competent people often resent the kind of arrogance you are displaying, so to get back at you, knowing you will take credit for doing the work yourself, they MIGHT consider giving you the wrong answer!

a suggestion...try starting off with something that sounds like, "I'm a student working on capacitance formulas and I sure could use a little help working out some simple problems, can anyone with a little spare time offer a little help?" you'll get further and Jaef might even put you on his Xmas card list

KW = V A √3 cosφ/1000. This can be rearranged and solved. (φ is Greek letter phi.)
